This hotfix addresses a customer reported issue in which Revit sessions run in Viewer Mode unexpectedly, without displaying the Viewer Mode dialog to warn users that Revit functionality is restricted in this mode. These restrictions include: save or save as in all cases, exporting or publishing modified projects, exporting or publishing any projects to a format containing model data that can be modified, and printing projects after changes are made.

General installation information
As you prepare to install this hotfix, keep the following in mind:
Administrative privileges
In order to apply this hotfix, you must have administrative privileges to install and uninstall products.
Product media Nosleep 1 1 – prevent computer sleeping.
Under some circumstances, you may be asked to provide the original installation source.
If you installed Autodesk Revit 2020 from the USB, you may be asked to insert the USB during installation of the hotfix. Please have the USB available before starting.
If you downloaded and installed Autodesk Revit 2020 from the web and later deleted the extracted files (default location of extracted files is C:AutodeskWIAutodesk Revit 2020), the hotfix installation may not be able to continue. In that case, you should follow these steps:
- Obtain the web download file and save it to your computer.
- Double click the download file and allow it to extract its files, noting where they are being saved.
- When the Autodesk Revit installer screen appears, click 'Cancel'.
- Continue with the hotfix installation as described in the installation instructions.
Backup custom files
Back up all customized files, such as Revit.ini, before starting.
Network deployment
Special command line switches are available for administrators.
/q - Suppresses the completion message after this hotfix is applied. This is useful if you use a script or batch file to apply this hotfix to multiple computers.
Installation instructions
Follow these instructions to install this hotfix on a single computer.
- Download Autodesk_Revit_2020_0_1.msp and save it to any folder.
- Ensure the original product installation media is available.
- Find the folder where you saved the hotfix and double-click the msp file.
Apply this hotfix to a deployment installation image
Follow these instructions to apply this hotfix to a deployment image.
- Start the Autodesk Revit 2020 deployment creation process. If you need to add the hotfix to an existing deployment image, launch the update shortcut located in the ToolsApplyUpdates folder and skip to step 4.
- When the deployment creation or modification process is complete and the Deployment Configuration Complete dialog is displayed, click Add Updates.
- If a Security Warning dialog is displayed, click Run.
- In the Autodesk Application Manager, click Update Software.
- Click Add for the hotfix to be applied to the deployment image.
- Once the hotfix has been successfully downloaded, click Close to exit the Autodesk Application Manager.
Note: This hotfix cannot be uninstalled to revert Autodesk Revit 2020 to its pre-hotfix state. If you need to remove the hotfix, please uninstall and then reinstall Autodesk Revit 2020.
